As you may know, I recently posted on the subject of the new European Union privacy legislation known as GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and how it might affect you. The main focus of my post was newsletters. And, judging by your feedback, you appreciated the help.

Since then, however, I’ve discovered a nifty -and decently priced- WordPress plugin that ensures your website’s GDPR compliance. I’m posting about it today in the hope it might help you overcome any lingering worries you may have on the subject.

Important note: this only works for self-hosted environments. If you have a blog on wordpress.com (like this one), you don’t need to bother with all that, as WordPress takes care of it. Simply create a Privacy Policy page and you’re good to go!

WP GDPR Fix Pro

GDPR Fix | From the blog of Nicholas C. Rossis, author of science fiction, the Pearseus epic fantasy series and children's bookCreated by Teknikforce, WP GDPR Fix Pro ensures your compliance with all key GDPR Requirements:

  1. Works with your blog or any other custom implementation of WordPress including e-com stores.
  2. Cookie requirement compliance makes sure your EU visitors are briefed about cookie policy.
  3. Terms and conditions policy compliance gets your visitors consent.
  4. Privacy policy compliance creates consent requirement for your privacy policy.
  5. Right-to-forget compliance lets you delete user data manually.
  6. Or… you can even refuse to accept EU traffic on your site (Built in the plugin)

How Does It Work?

GDPR Fix | From the blog of Nicholas C. Rossis, author of science fiction, the Pearseus epic fantasy series and children's bookWhen you install the plugin, you get a new submenu on the left with several options (repeated in the tabs above). By simply going from tab to tab, you can set it up in minutes, as long as you already have a Privacy Policy page set up.

You don’t even have to compose any texts, as you can simply click on the “Use Default Text” button and import ready-made, template-based text. On the other hand, you can customize pretty much anything, if you so wish.

Success!

Once you’re done, you’ll get a lovely report verifying that you’re now GDPR-compliant.

Prices for WP GDPR Fix Pro start at $18.50 for a single-site license, so it doesn’t exactly break the bank.

You can probably install and configure it yourself but if you need help with installing it, I’d be happy to help.

As you know, I’m loth to push my web services to you, but I have already bought the plugin’s unlimited edition through Istomedia, so I can both get it and install it on your site for $30. If anyone’s interested, all I’ll need is an admin user so I can install and customize the plugin.
