Readers of my blog and interviews will know that my sci-fi/fantasy series, Pearseus, is basically Herodotus’ history of Cyrus, King of Persia… in space.

It’s easy enough to understand how I came up with the idea, growing up some 20′ from the scene of the famous Marathon Bay battle and Marathon tumulus.

The place where the Persians landed is now a beautiful, sandy beach. Nothing reminds swimmers of the hundreds of Persian ships that invaded Greece some 2,500 years ago, even though the tomb of the fallen warriors is less than a mile away.
