That’s a very useful reference facility, Nicholas. As a non-professional author, I find the plethora of social media platforms rather overwhelming, but if I needed this additional outlet for marketing, I would be grateful for a ‘one-stop-shop’ for information on this facility. I’m interested that WhatsApp is #1 in the list: perhaps I haven’t explored all of its possibilities, but it doesn’t look like a sharing platform to me, and if you’re messaging people who aren’t already established contacts, isn’t that another form of spam? Cheers, Jon.

You’re right; WhatsApp is a messenger service. You can use it to organize group chats and live events but I should probably remove it from the list to avoid confusion (they have it on the original list, of course, so you’d still be seeing it there 🙂 )

Thanks for the list, Nicholas. I haven’t heard of 60% of these. I used to have WhatsApp on my phone, but it depleted the battery too quickly by constantly updating. It’s worth remembering that Apps on phones are ‘battery eaters’, with those updates, and also use a lot of Internet GB allowance too.
Best wishes, Pete.

You’re not the only one not to have heard of most of these. I think it’s probably best to stick to ones you have heard of as I suspect they are the most useful ones for authors.

That’s so true! I haven’t installed it yet for that very reason and generally try to install as few apps as possible.

When am I going to write? Please, someone lobby for a 48 hour day. Have you heard of MeWe? I tried it, an alternative to Facebook. Too many guys hitting on all the women. I am stuck with the tried and tested I fear. Thanks for this.

Thanks for sharing your experience with MeWe, Jane! I haven’t tried it and I don’t believe I will. Like you say, so little time!

I know, it looked a great idea, like so many new sites. We are all fed-up with Facebook etc but it is a hassle setting up new sites, getting a following and then, getting hit on by adverts and men (or whoever) not really playing the game. Beginning to think one’s own website is the secret.
