While I strongly believe that AI in general and AI content generator tools in particular are a boon to most writers, there are times when you don’t want to use them. One such considerable case regards the risk of plagiarism. Obviously, plagiarized content is not acceptable in both academic and web writing.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the answer is given by another AI tool, that of AI content detector tools. These can be a great professional aid to avoid legal penalties for using plagiarized content.
Most such tools are equipped with the advanced GPTzero technology developed to identify machine-generated text.
If you’re interested in detecting AI copy, I have here information on the 5 best AI content detectors to check AI-generated content I’m aware of.
Contentdetector.org
Contentdetector.org is an AI platform for the detection of automated content. Its key property is its efficiency in distinguishing between the text generated by specific machine-learning patterns and creative human writing.
The tool can highlight the text generated by the following AI text rewriting tools:

AI Content Detector Powered by Wordtune.com is a free and user-friendly tool for effortless detection of AI-generated text.
Its capability to analyze a large number of words (5,000 words per entry) at more than 99% accuracy level is a key feature that makes it popular among users.

ChatGPT’s AI Content Detector
Yes, ChatGPT’s AI does more than generate copy. Its Content Detector is another well-known platform for checking machine-generated text.
Its ability to detect and highlight the content written extends to using various online tools, including its own ChatGPT content generator tool. This ensures comprehensive scrutiny and analysis.
However, it does not rank higher when it comes to the best AI content detector tools due to certain limitations.
Features:

Although it accepts a limited number of words, the accuracy of the tool in identifying the machine-written content is matchless.
It performs intensive content checking by employing the most sophisticated AI algorithms to ensure the accuracy of the results.

That’s really helpful, Nicholas, thank you! I think it is unlikely that I will ever want to use AI for my writing [such as it is 😉 ] but I will certainly share this on my book review blog, and on my Facebook page, for general information. It’s always good to keep up with technology as it develops 😀 Cheers, Jon.

That’s interesting. AI has brought a knee-jerk reaction, but I can see this having some legitimate uses, just like the AI everyone thinks of when they hear the term.

A great way of describing the situation! I would think that college professors have their hands full in trying to figure out if student papers were written by AI.

I’ve been playing with AI for generating story ideas. It’s gets me writing, but even then, I end up letting my own creativity take over. This will be handy for that purpose. Thanks so much, Nicholas. I could see this as a valuable tool for journalists.

Nicholas, I use ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot – AI powered chat. Both free. There is a difference in the same questions. Copilot on dialogue that included history of the Vietnam war status in 1969 brought more info than GPT with the Let’s break this down answer. It blew me away. And gave me more “ ideas” to include. You didn’t mention the Microsoft one. What are your thoughts on it? 📚🎶 Christine

There are a few AI Copilots. Not sure about It checking for AI content. It seems to be part of AI. My answers come from Bing and the sources are listed at the end of Microsoft Copilot’s answer. With added questions to go further.
AI is built into Microsoft products and services you use everyday. 📚Christine

It’s all so amazing, Nicholas. It makes you wonder how many books we read might contain AI generated content, especially from mainstream authors. The most I’ve used AI is Pro Writing Aid. But it’s an invaluable tool. Thanks for sharing all of this!

Hi! I’m just leaving some comments on other blogs to let people know, in case they missed it, that WordPress is now selling our content to AI companies to train their models. They have auto opted everyone in to be sold, and if you don’t want to be included, you need to go to your settings and opt out.

Thank you, Briana! Since I use AI daily, I don’t mind it. In fact, I encourage it in the hopes that my humble ramblings somehow help improve the accuracy of AI. I guess think of it as a teacher who uses my material to teach her students rather than a thief stealing my words and then portraying them as his own.

I certainly will feel better if they at least train AI on stuff that’s correct! I’d much rather have WordPress send over GOOD content than have them send over anything. I could be writing a blog about why the Earth is flat, and will they be sending that to train their models? XD

Yes! AI is an accurate reflection of our world, warts and all. It’d be unrealistic to expect perfection out of it, I guess!
