Last year, I wrote about the best literary hoaxes. This year, I was thinking of pranking the sweetest (and most gullible) family member: the 3-year-old wee one. So, naturally, I used Google for some ideas. And boy was I happy with the results, courtesy of BuzzFeed.
So, here are my favorite kids-friendly pranks:
1. Give them some donut seeds to grow
2. Stick googly eyes on the food in your refrigerator
3. Also cute? Drawing faces on your eggs
4.Take a photo of someone your kid cares about “floating”…
Then show it to your kid and feign amazement.
5. Make them spider cookies
I would probably try this, but I’m pretty sure she’d love them, as she loves spiders!
6. Tell your kids you’ve baked them a pan of brownies.
Sorry, make that “brown Es.”
Nice ideas. I assume there are parents out there who get enough sleep to put these into action. 😜

I’d love to meet them, assuming they exist 😀

If I got a spider cookie from someone, I’d lose my mind. (Although I might do that for Halloween.)
This was super cute.

We had so many spiders around when I grew up, I’m actually fond of the little critters. Of course, it helps that Greece doesn’t have any poisonous kinds!

I just mentioned to someone this weekend that Stephen King credited J.K. Rowling with one of the most terrifying creatures in literature—the dementor. They were scary, sure, but they didn’t bother me.
Yet, as I was watching HP 2, I found Aragog and his family much more frightening. If it skitters or slithers, I don’t want any parts of it!

I didn’t find dementors particularly frightening, either… but then again, I haven’t actually met one 😀

Great ideas, Nicholas! I don’t have any little ones around today, or I’d definitely try a couple! I’m going to forward this to my daughter, though. She might enjoy giving my 5-year old grandson a giggle or two. 🙂

When I was a science teacher I did worksheets for my classes. One was on an alleged discovery that dragons actually exist. Another was about the increasing smallness of computer chips, ending with saying that eventually, we would get chips as small as an atom (nano, anybody? Was I prophecying?) Another a
Was to give them a worksheet which told them to read the whole thing before starting. The last sentence said ‘ignore all the above. Put down your pen and cross your arms.’ Very, very few actually did that. A good lesson for following instructions in future exams.
