It’s Orthodox Easter today. Visitors of this blog may recall my older posts on the quaint Greek customs such as shooting rockets at each other. Because what better way to celebrate Jesus’ resurrection, right? Not that Medieval killer bunnies are much better, of course.
I know that most of you have already celebrated Easter and hope that someday we’ll all celebrate it together. In the meantime, I wish you all a happy Easter!

Happy Easter. Good luck dodging rockets? Eh, that happens in parts of this country without a holiday.

Yup. That term is getting disturbingly true.

Beautiful eggs. Are they of Polish design?

These particular ones are Serbian, I believe, but you’ll find similar designs all over the Balcans. My mother brought over today some she’d decorated herself and they were quite similar.

Pretty eggs. They aren’t hand painted, are they? Maybe they aren’t even real eggs?

We had a friend who had an Orthodox wedding. The church had never received delivery of the pews 😉 Seriously, there were some benches on the perimeter for the elderly. Is this a thing throughout the Orthodox world? If so, I would set up a gel insets for shoes outside a large church. 😉

Yes, there aren’t pews in an Orthodox church. People usually stand, except the elderly who have some chairs.

Come to think of it, our wedding didn’t have pews either – not even any benches 😀
Seriously though, that was because it was a tiny chapel and we held the ceremony outdoors. Normally, you have the ceremony inside a church and everyone can use the pews already there.

Lol – this week is considered as much Easter as Easter Sunday, so you’re not late at all 🙂
